Job summary

raSmith is seeking a student for a Site Design Co-op in Brookfield, WI. You will gain practical engineering experience under seasoned project managers, engineers and technicians while contributing to real projects.

You will develop problem-solving and technical skills through on-the-job training and mentoring. The role emphasizes work/life balance and employee development.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year of a 4 year BS program in Civil Engineering completed.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS Office.
• Able to solve basic engineering problems and make good decisions.
• Strong planning skills to scope tasks and projects.
• Excellent communication, detail orientation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Pre-development due diligence.
• Exhibit preparation.
• Permit application support.
• Site planning.
• Civil 3D design tasks including grading or utility design, or technical writing to assist project engineers.

We currently have an opening for a student to fill a 2027 co-op position at our Brookfield, WI office (approximately 10 miles west of downtown Milwaukee). We are looking for students with an interest in gaining practical engineering experience from experienced project managers, engineers and technicians through on-the-job training on real projects. During this time, you will be encouraged to hone your problem-solving abilities and develop technical skills.

Site Design Co-op - Primary Responsibilities

On any given day our co-op students could be working on the following:

• Pre-development due diligence
• Exhibit preparation
• Permit application
• Site planning
• Civil 3D design tasks including grading or utility design, technical writing or other tasks to assist the project engineers

Site Design Co-op - Skills and Requirements

Qualified Students must meet the following requirements:

• Have completed the Sophomore Year of a 4 year Bachelor of Science Program in Civil Engineering at a U.S. accredited college or university and coursework in civil engineering.
• Have technical skills to include exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products
• Able to solve basic engineering problems and have good decision-making skills
• Skilled at planning by accurately scoping out length and difficulty of tasks and projects
• Have excellent communication, detail orientation, interpersonal skills, and be a team player
