Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for a travel assignment in Wisconsin. The role focuses on care for post-cardiac surgery patients within a Level I trauma teaching hospital, with 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratios and 3x12 hour shifts (days and nights).

The ideal candidate has 2+ years CVICU experience, trauma exposure, Epic charting, and proficiency with CVVH. Telemetry testing and travel requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license required.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of acute care CVICU experience within the last 3 years.
• Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required.
• Level I trauma experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity adaptable unit experience preferred.
• Epic experience required, preferably within the past 12 months.
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher passing score.

Responsibilities

• CVICU setting within a Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Day and night shifts available (3x12 hours), 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required with some holiday coverage
• No on-call responsibilities
• 4x12 scheduling or blocked weekends available if preferred
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide care for cardiovascular ICU patients including post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and mechanical circulatory support devices (IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD)
• Manage ventilated and respiratory failure patients, including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Perform arterial line, central line, and PICC line management along with blood product administration
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and manage continuous IV sedation
• Manage CVVHD/CRRT for renal failure patients
• Monitor for dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies, including 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
