Job summary

UAB Medicine's Cardiovascular ICU Stepdown unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham is seeking a dedicated registered nurse to provide direct patient care in an 8-bed unit supporting recovery from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.

Telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management are core components of the role. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure well-coordinated care, successful discharge planning, and adherence to policy-driven care plans across

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and professional licensure at time of hire

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
