Job summary

AdventHealth in Ocala, Florida is seeking a patient care technician to assist in providing patient care under RN supervision. The role supports timely, quality care in a fast-paced acute care setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and BLS/CPR certification with preferred 1+ year PCT experience. Night shift is available, and adherence to safety and documentation policies is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year PCT experience preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification required (or equivalent) per listed licenses.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Document and report all procedures per department policy.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and team members.
• Participate in obtaining nursing histories and report abnormalities.

Job Description

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.
