Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in North Carolina seeks a production operator to feed cutting lines by understanding job tickets and delivering aerated loads. You will operate an aerator, move loads to staging, and prepare pallets for shipment with a banding machine.

You will also adjust feeders and assist with maintenance and documentation to ensure quality at each step. Strong teamwork is essential as you support peers, lift bulky items, and perform duties assigned by supervisors.

• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail required.
• Ability to think of different ways to perform a task and spot improvements.
• Availability to work additional hours to cover absences.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand job ticket with operator and determine inputs for production.
• Operate an aerator machine and deliver aerated loads to cutting machines.
• Move loads from the cutter to staging areas after cutting.
• Use a banding machine to prepare pallets for shipment or storage.
• Adjust feeding mechanism to maximize production.
• Mount stripping tools, blanking tools, swords and other task alone or with assistance.
• Understand the controls of the feeder console and auxiliary controls for the operating systems.
• Perform basic maintenance of the equipment by following a written task list.
• Perform quality inspection of material to ensure product quality to the next process and customer.
• Complete necessary documentation and reports.
• Willing to help other team members by helping lift larger or bulky items when needed.
• Preform other duties as assigned by manager, supervisor, lead person, press operator.
