Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Marion, NC is seeking a Production Team Member to support 2nd and 3rd shift operations. Roles include entry-level operators such as Entry Sheeter Operator, Press Assistant, Feeder Catcher or Entry Cutting Operator, with starting pay of $17 per hour and shift differentials.

You will verify label info, count, sample for quality audits, inspect folding and gluing, ensure safety, keep area clean, and participate in 5S and SQF compliance.

Qualifications

• 1 year of work-related experience in manufacturing or equivalent education.
• Must complete cGMP training and Departmental QOP training.
• Must pass pre-employment testing.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong math abilities and measurement understanding.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours.

Responsibilities

• Verify case label information to cartons and the Electronic Job Jacket.
• Verify case count at the start of production run.
• Pull samples for quality audit inspection.
• Pull samples from each case for inspection of folding and gluing.
• Identify last case of order with blue tape.
• Identify last partial case with case label.
• Flag non-conformity cartons on each case.
• Use tag verifier to confirm source tag activation.
• Assist in line clearance after each order.
• Maintain cleaning and housekeeping of the gluer and department.
• Support flat packing process.
• Sort cartons in WIP and rework for defects.
• Feed the gluer as needed.
• Follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.
• Contribute to 5S and SQF compliance and report any food safety concerns.
• Be flexible with hours as needed.
