FlexStaff is hiring a full-time Cutter Grinder to join our client's team in Bohemia, NY. The role focuses on sharpening and reconditioning cutting tools, ensuring precision, tool life, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

You will set up grinding machines, interpret drawings, and document parameters. Candidates should have a high school diploma and hands-on experience with cutter grinding techniques, safety practices, and meticulous inspection using calipers and micrometers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience operating cutter grinding machines and performing tool maintenance is expected.
• Ability to read blueprints, interpret specifications, and follow work instructions is essential.

Responsabilités

• Operate cutter grinding machines to sharpen and recondition cutting tools (end mills, drills, reamers, inserts).
• Set up grinding wheels, adjust machine settings, and secure tools in the machine.
• Interpret tooling drawings and work instructions to determine grinding requirements (angles, dimensions, tolerances).
• Use micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to inspect tools for wear or accuracy.
• Adjust grinding parameters to achieve desired geometry and finish.
• Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines (cleaning, lubrication, wheel dressing).
• Collaborate with designers/engineers to troubleshoot tooling issues and suggest improvements.
• Document grinding parameters and inspection results for traceability.

FlexStaff is hiring a FT Cutter Grinder to join our client's team.The purpose of this position is to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of cutting tools, optimizing their performance, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Location: Bohemia, NY

Pay: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour based on experience

Hours: 7:00a.m- 3:30p.m

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate cutter grinding machines to sharpen and recondition various cutting tools, such as end mills, drills, reamers, and inserts, according to specifications and work order.
• Set up grinding machines by selecting appropriate grinding wheels, adjusting machine settings, and securing cutting tools in the machine.
• Interpret tooling specifications, technical drawings, or work instructions to determine grinding requirements, including angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators, to inspect and measure cutting tools for wear, damage, or accuracy.
• Adjust machine settings to control grinding parameters, such as wheel speed, feed rate, and depth of cut, to achieve desired cutting tool geometry and surface finish.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on grinding machines, such as cleaning, lubrication, and wheel dressing, to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with tool designers, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot tooling issues and provide recommendations for tool improvements or modifications.
• Document tooling data, including grinding parameters, tool measurements, and inspection results, to maintain accurate records and ensure traceability.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Possess strong technical skills and expertise in operating cutter grinding machines, utilizing various grinding techniques, and performing tool maintenance tasks effectively.
• Experience with cutter grinding techniques, blueprint reading, tooling, problem solving, safety awareness, communication skills, and attention to detail.
• Skilled in setting up cutter grinding machines, including selecting appropriate grinding wheels, adjusting machine controls, and securing cutting tools in the machine for precise grinding.
