Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking a Cutter who will operate an automated Gerber cutting machine to cut fabric accurately according to job specs. You will set up, feed, and monitor the machine, verify tickets, and document any malfunctions for timely production flow.

The role requires reading tickets and notes in English, lifting fabrics, standing for long periods, and maintaining a clean workstation while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable in cutting methods and be able to complete job to quality specifications.

Responsibilities

• Check swatch before cutting.
• Read cutting requests to determine job specifications.
• Mount fabric on table and spread specified amount of fabric out on cutting table and cut with scissors.
• Setup and operate automated cutting machine to cut fabric.
• Enter commands in computer control console to retrieve preprogrammed cutting instructions and starts machine.
• Monitor operation of cutting machine to detect any malfunctions and informs supervisor or programmer of any problems.
• Remove cut plies from table, marks part identification on plies, and bags / labels cut material for subsequent production use.
• Verify all parts are in cover before bundling.
• Verify options, fabric, and other information on ticket.
• Responsible for fixing own repairs before starting on new piece.
• Maintain neat and orderly work station.
• Wears required metal cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses and work shoes; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

Position Summary: Cuts fabric into parts using automated Gerber cutting machine.

Physical demands and work environment:

• Lift / Carry: Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting in excess of 50 lbs. requiring team

lift. Must be able to move fabric onto and off of cutting machine. Occasional overhead

lifting needed.

• Push / Pull:Frequent push/pull motion associated with fabric rolls and positioning of fabric

for cutting.

• Standing: Must be able to stand 8+ hours.
• Bend / Stoop / Crouch: Occasional adjustment of torso to remove / place fabric.
• Reach / Handle / Grasp / Feel: Repetitive motions (pinching, pulling, cutting using scissors).
