Job summary

Atlas Molded Products in Byron Center, MI is seeking a Machine Operator – Cutter for the 3rd shift in the Production Department. You will cut, package, label, and verify parts per specifications, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires reliability and familiarity with manufacturing processes, with opportunities for skill progression. Preferred candidates have a high school diploma (GED acceptable) and prior manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Report to the shift manager for daily directions.
• Inspect and package parts per specs and record in-process data.
• Cut, bundle, wrap, stack, pack and label materials per instructions.
• Operate or assist with machinery such as cutting, hauling and wrapping equipment.
• Verify equipment setup and ensure safe shutdown of manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain productivity and ensure final product meets specified density, weight, size and shape.

Job description

Atlas Molded Products is seeking Machine Operator - Cutter 3rd Shift in our Production Department for the Byron Center, MI facility.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities (Other Duties As Assigned)

• Report to Manager at shift start for direction for the day.
• General understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures.
• Inspect and package parts according to specification pages and record required information on in-process sheets.
• Cut, bundle, wrap, stack, pack, assemble and label materials per specific production instructions.
• Operate or assist with machinery such as, but not limited to block cutting, hauling, and wrapping equipment.
• Verify equipment set-up throughout the process; operate and power down manufacturing
• Maintain productivity standards and verify all job requirements of the final products with the correct density, material, weight, size, and shape within given quality tolerance to meet specific job requirements.
• Verify shipping and receiving of all materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate Pre-breakers / Re-Grinding equipment to recycle EPS.
• Perform any other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
• Must be trained and familiar with general safety.
• Must be trained and familiar with Quality System Awareness.
• Must be verified by supervisor and be signed off on procedures needed to fulfill job requirements within 2 months of hire.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Problem solving and critical thinking desired
• Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken, preferred.
• Must be able to use simple math, count and use basic hand-held measuring tools.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Light to moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.
• Must be able to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds; and safely operate assigned machinery.
