Summary/Objective

This position is primarily responsible for cutting material used in chassis. This individual will be measuring and cutting material to produce pre-cut tubes. The cut house saw operator will report to the team leader to ensure daily goals are being met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

• Observe all safety rules and policies maintained by the company.
• Ensure accurate measurements on all cuts.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the installation area.

Other Key Responsibilities

• Combine specified designs and measurements, appropriate component parts, cutting, and welding systems to produce pre-cut tubes.
• Maintain raw material inventory (plate, channel, tube, angle, etc.).
• Move raw materials to and from the saw area.
• Maintain saw, saw tables, saw blades, rollers, etc.
• Ensure secure material handling through safety cross-checks.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily on the floor/in the work area; may be exposed to elements (heat, snow, etc.)
• May sit or stand for several hours at a time.
• Repetitive use of hands to operate machinery.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate equipment including band saws, tape measures, etc.
• Ability to perform basic math operations.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Competencies:

• Ability to work as part of a team to meet demand and goals.
• Basic computer skills for posting production tags.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, prints, and measurements.
• Meet production goals and deadlines.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Welding competency and knowledge of welding systems.
• Ability to rotate to other welding positions as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities upon hiring.

Physical Demands:

Regularly talk and hear; active position involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, etc. May lift/move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, outdoor weather conditions, dust, fumes, gases, noise, heat, cold, and wet conditions. Personal protective equipment will be provided.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time hourly position; some Saturdays may be mandatory.

Travel:

No travel required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Lift truck license preferred (training available).
