Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel in San Francisco seeks a Customs Systems & Processes Specialist to optimize logistics and ensure U.S. import compliance.

You will compile, analyze, and submit accurate Customs Reconciliation entries to CBP in line with 19 CFR Part 181, reconciling entry processes with valuation principles. You will liaise with stakeholders, manage timelines, and stay updated on regulatory changes while supporting audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Accounting, Supply Chain or related field.
• 5+ years in customs compliance, import operations, or trade compliance; reconciliation experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTS classification, valuation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with CBP’s ACE portal and data analysis tools (Excel, ERP, trade software).
• Licensed U.S. Customs Broker is required.

You as Customs Systems & Processes Specialist will be responsible for compiling, analyzing, and submitting accurate Customs Reconciliation entries to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in accordance with 19 CFR Part 181 and other applicable regulatory requirements. With strong understanding of U.S. import regulations and valuation principles, you will reconcile entry processes.

• Prepare and file Customs Reconciliation entries in accordance with CBP regulations and company procedures
• Perform variance analysis between declared and actual values related to assists, royalties, transfer pricing, and classification changes
• Manage reconciliation timelines and maintain audit-ready documentation for all entries
• Liaise with customer and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely data gathering
• Maintain compliance with CBP's Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and manage reconciliation flags within entry data
• Support post-entry compliance reviews, internal audits, and CBP inquiries or audits as needed
• Continuously monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices related to reconciliation programs

What we would like you to bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in customs compliance, import operations, or trade compliance; direct experience with Reconciliation programs, especially filing entries and classification with knowledge of protest & PSC workings is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTS classification, valuation methods, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience with CBP’s ACE portal and data analysis tools (Excel, ERP systems, trade software).
• Proven experience in responding to U.S.Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as necessary.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and time management skills.
• Licensed U.S. Customs Broker required.

Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
