Our client, a well-established international logistics and customs brokerage firm, is seeking a Customs Entry Specialist to join its growing operations team in Pomona, CA. What You'll Do
As a Customs Entry Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring imported goods move efficiently through U.S. Customs while coordinating shipments from arrival through final delivery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process customs entries and import documentation for ocean and air freight shipments.
- Ensure shipments comply with U.S. Customs regulations and government agency requirements.
- Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and assist with duty calculations.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, truckers, CFS warehouses, and customers to facilitate timely deliveries.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates on shipment status and delivery timelines.
- Verify customs clearance and freight release before scheduling final delivery.
- Resolve shipment discrepancies and documentation issues quickly and accurately.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers, carriers, and internal departments.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with all import/export documentation and company procedures.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while managing multiple shipments and deadlines.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
- Customs Brokerage
- Import Operations
- Freight Forwarding
- International Logistics
- Supply Chain Operations
- Experience preparing customs entries or import documentation preferred.
- Strong understanding of import processes and customs regulations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based logistics systems.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or coursework in:
- International Business
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics
- Transportation
- Bilingual in one or more of the following languages:
- Mandarin
- Vietnamese
- Korean
- Japanese
- Experience with tariff classification (HTS) and customs compliance.
- Experience working with freight forwarding, ocean freight, air freight, or customs brokerage operations.
