Job summary

DHL Express is hiring a Customs Entry Agent in Tempe, AZ. You will ensure compliance with US and foreign regulations for shipments, receipts, and documentation, processing entries to US Customs and tariffs.

You will review invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release and resolve delays. Key responsibilities include classifying shipments, communicating status with origins/destinations, and obtaining necessary permits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database/web-based apps.
• Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency on a 10 key calculator.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with rules.
• Processes requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and entries.
• Communicates shipment status with origin and destination locations.
• Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintains communication with the department of foreign affairs.
• Receives and distributes incoming/outgoing mail and correspondence.
• Examines invoices and documents to determine Harmonized Tariff Code.
• Knows US Customs Regulations and trade agreements.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and manage time effectively.
• Process shipments through portals for FDA and US Customs clearance.
