Job summary

TSMC Arizona seeks a Customs Compliance Specialist to support import/export processes. You will liaise with brokers, review declarations, and help maintain FTZ records in alignment with regulations. The role includes preparing documentation, tracking duties, and assisting audits.

Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential for cross‑functional teamwork. Required is a Bachelor’s degree and 0–1 year of related experience; U.S. Customs Broker’s License is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 0–1 year of customs entry writer/broker experience or similar.
  • Familiarity with HTS and 19CFR.
  • FTZ regulations experience is a plus.
  • Active U.S. Customs Broker’s License is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain FTZ records and ensure documentation complies with FTZ regulations.
  • Prepare and organize import/export documentation, permits, and licenses; track duties and taxes.

  • Review shipping docs to verify alignment with regulations and internal requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain compliance trackers and support KPI reporting.
  • Record import/export activities as required by law.

Job Overview

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab will operate its leading‑edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize leading‑edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. Position

We are hiring a Customs Compliance Specialist who will demonstrate a strong sense of reliability and enthusiasm and embody our core values of integrity, commitment, innovation and customer trust.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with customs brokers to facilitate timely clearance and assist in the review of entry declarations by verifying data such as valuation, country of origin, and trade program claims against commercial documents.
  • Support daily Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations by maintaining accurate records and ensuring all documentation is filed in accordance with FTZ regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of import/export documentation, permits, and licenses. Support the team by tracking duty and tax payments and gathering necessary records to help senior staff respond to CBP audits or inquiries.
  • Perform routine checks of trade documentation to verify accuracy and regulatory compliance. Identify and report any discrepancies and assist in documenting the necessary corrections.
  • Review shipping documentation for each transaction to verify that all details align with current customs regulations and internal requirements.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional departments to provide updates on shipment status and basic customs requirements. Help resolve routine compliance questions and, when necessary, raise complex issues to management for guidance.
  • Maintain compliance trackers and assist in the preparation of weekly or monthly KPI reports, providing data support to identify shipment trends and potential areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of import and export activities as required by law.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • 0–1 year of experience as a customs entry writer/broker.
  • Familiarity with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and 19CFR.
  • Demonstrated experience with FTZ regulations and operational processes (plus).
  • Possession of an active U.S. Customs Broker’s License (plus).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
  • Presentation, listening, and teamwork skills.
  • Physical Requirements: N/A.
Shift Expectations

TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidates to have the ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is completed. The compressed work week shift structure is 4 days on, 3 days off for one week, followed by 3 days on, 4 days off for the next week. Shift is 12 hours from 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am. Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site at our Phoenix, Arizona facility.
