Job summary

Expeditors International is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Specialist in Grapevine, TX. You will manage import/export paperwork, ensure accurate data entry, and support billing and compliance across a global logistics network.

The role involves interpreting procedures, maintaining timely communication with clients and internal teams, and contributing to efficient customs operations within a Fortune 500 environment.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with customs brokerage processes and classification/valuation/origin.
  • Understanding of import/export documentation workflows for ocean, road, and air.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth and timely customs process flow.
  • Enter data accurately into the operational system.
  • Track and trace customs files and reporting.
  • Prepare client billing accurately and on time.
  • Interpret Desk Operating Procedures to meet customer instructions.
  • Transfer declaration data into the customs entry system for valid declarations.
  • Verify declaration information and submit to customs authorities while maintaining compliance.

Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth and timely customs process flow
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system
  • Track and Trace Custom files and reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely client billing
  • Understand all the elements of the import and export customs Desk Level Operating Procedure and correctly interpret this information to fulfill our customer?s instructions and expectations.
  • Transfer customs declaration information from documents, or other sources into the customs entry system to allow for the build of a valid customs declaration
  • Assist with verification of customs declaration information and the submission of such to the customs authority
  • Ensure compliance at all times to regulations
Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of customs brokerage process, customs legislation - especially with regards to classification, valuation and origin
  • Understanding of ocean, road and air documentation process
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Pro-active approach, strong organizational and computer skills
