Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Team Lead for 2nd shift to drive safety, quality, and productivity while developing a high-performing crew in our operations.

You will oversee training, Lean/6S initiatives, and equipment utilization, aligning with cross-functional teams to meet Work Orders and production schedules.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in operations preferred.
  • 2+ years of production or manufacturing experience.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions and use KPIs to drive change.
  • Understanding of Lean/6S methodology.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proven mechanical ability or aptitude.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate priorities based on direction of supervision.
  • Develop personnel on assigned equipment; conduct training and remove barriers to development.
  • Ensure accuracy of work instructions.
  • Lead Lean/6S progression on equipment and drive performance metrics.
  • Ensure timely job changeovers by utilizing the team effectively.
  • Coordinate with Department Lead and Plant Supervisor to fulfill Work Orders.
  • Maintain communication with Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Planning Teams to ensure materials are used efficiently.

Job description

A successful Team Lead at Milwaukee Tool will demonstrate the ability to put people and process first at all times to ensure Milwaukee Tool's unwavering devotion to a robust culture. This position is the standard bearer for who we are and the obsession we have with being the market leader in Hand Tools.

This Team Lead will be charged with overseeing the safety, quality, productivity, and training linked to their assigned cost center. The ability to effectively communicate to the team is crucial to the continued success and development of the personnel and equipment managed. Through resourcing of materials, timely set-ups, and directing of equipment operators, the Team Lead position is tasked with the short- and long-term success of their assigned equipment.

This role will directly support the customization operation for our head protection product families. This support includes oversight of custom print logo quality relative to approved artwork, execution of printer production schedules, and embracing our One Team Mentality working with the print operators and cross functional teams.

2nd shift hours: Monday to Friday 3:00p-11:00p

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate priorities based on direction of supervision
  • Is the primary developer of personnel on assigned equipment. Leads spot correction training, scheduled training, and identifies barriers to development of their team
  • Facilitate work instruction accuracy
  • Owner of the continued Lean/6S progression on their equipment
  • Constantly works to ensure equipment is exceeding performance metrics
  • Ensures timely job changeovers by utilizing team as effectively as possible
  • Coordinates with the Department Lead and Plant Supervisor to fulfil Work Orders
  • Maintains communication with Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Planning Teams to ensure materials are accurately utilized in an efficient manner
Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in operations field preferred
  • 2+ years of production experience
  • Team leadership experience
  • Ability to interpret work instruction and use key performance indicators to enact change
  • Understanding of Lean/6S methodology
  • Mathematical and analytical skills
  • Possess proven mechanical ability or aptitude
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Prior training and development experience
  • Knowledge of automated systems or the willingness to learn
