Job summary

Guardian Pharmacy of Wisconsin, part of the Guardian family, is hiring a Pharmacy Technician in Madison, WI. You will handle incoming calls, assist with prescriptions, refills, and pharmacy services, and support facilities and patients with accurate information and timely updates.

The role requires a Pharmacy Technician license/certification (state requirements) and produces excellent customer service in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification required or per state requirements.
  • National Certification (PTCB) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls from patients and caregivers.
  • Provide information about prescriptions, refills, and services.
  • Submit refill requests to Data Entry and update patient data in the system.
  • Explain status and delivery schedules to facilities/patients.
  • Coordinate with pharmacists/technicians to address patient needs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and company policies.

Position Details:

Schedule: Flexible weekday shifts between 8:00 AM–6:30 PM + just 1 weekend per month (9 AM–5 PM)
Pay: $17–$22/hour
Location: 3250 Kingsley Way, Madison, WI 83713
Great opportunity to grow your pharmacy career! Provide excellent customer service to the facilities in taking orders, answering questions, referring information and phone calls to the appropriate departments.

Essential Job Functions (include the following):
  • Answer incoming phone calls from patients and caregivers.
  • Respond to customer questions about prescriptions, refills, and pharmacy services.
  • Assist in submission of refill requests to the Data Entry department.
  • Help facilities/patients understand prescription status and delivery schedules.
  • Verify and update patient information in pharmacy systems.
  • Resolve basic customer concerns and elevate complex issues when needed.
  • Document customer interactions accurately in the pharmacy system.
  • Coordinate with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to address patient needs.
  • Provide friendly, professional service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Follow HIPAA and company privacy policies.
  • Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed.
Education and/or Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED, required Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification preferred (PTCB), preferred

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience)
  • Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
