Job summary

The State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Developmental Disabilities Administration, is seeking a Customer Service Specialist 2 in Tacoma to provide frontline support, guidance, and problem resolution for clients, families, and advocates.

You will handle in-person and multi-line phone inquiries, help with agency procedures and DSHS paperwork, and coordinate with staff while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with WAC/RCW policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years experience providing assistance to clients/customers.
• One year experience as a Customer Service Specialist 1.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional-level customer services to internal and external customers.
• Interact with the public in person and on a multi-line phone system.
• De-escalate verbal confrontations and establish resolutions.
• Ensure maintenance and proper use of office equipment.
• Maintain phone lists and reference materials.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail.
• Resolve customer service issues and determine referrals when needed.
• Assist clients with agency procedures and completing DSHS paperwork.
