Career Opportunities

Seeking an individual to work in the field full time as a Customer Service Representative to ensure accurate readings and recordings of water consumption for water utility customers.

  • Reads water meters on an assigned route and records readings.
  • Checks to see that meters and radios are functioning properly and reports defects.
  • Sets, replaces, and removes water meters as needed.
  • Checks for leaks and reports needed repairs using See Click Fix.
  • Cleans and programs meters and radios.
  • Completes connects and disconnects work orders, records readings.
  • Monitors continuous flow usage and notifies customers on potential leaks.
  • Educates customers about MyH2O and See Click Fix applications to increase citizen engagement.
  • Answers routine customer questions and complaints.
  • Determines consistency of meter readings and reports unusual cases.
  • Maintains equipment and vehicle and ensures they are in good working condition.
  • Maintains records of work performed such as jobs completed and labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Responds to water quality and water pressure complaints.
  • Performs connects and reconnects for non-payment.
  • Conducts solid waste cart inventory and audits.
  • Troubleshoots solid waste issues as they arise.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED required. Clerical experience and ability to meet lifting requirement.

Special Requirements
  1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  2. Ability to perform strenuous work in the outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
  3. Ability to read, record and report water use accurately.
  4. Ability to work independently.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  6. Ability to use smart-phone device in order to record meter readings and obtain photos of water meter readings.
  7. Ability to communicate well with customers.

Must have the ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and climb into small areas and transport self from building to building; must be able to climb in and out of vehicle. Intermittent walking required to read meters in neighborhoods. Must have the ability to lift 75 pounds. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures reading and maintaining meters. Employee may also be exposed to typical outdoor hazards such as insect bites, etc.

Category: Public Works Status: Open Salary: Starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid health, dental, vision, life insurance, long term care insurance. TMRS retirement plan requires 7% employee contribution with 2 to 1 employer match. Vested after 5 years. We also offer a voluntary 457b deferred compensation plan with Nationwide.
