City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking a Customer Service Representative to provide initial and frequent contact with the public by phone and in person under the Customer Service Manager. You will perform data entry of customer payments, provide information on services, and assist existing customers with billing questions.
The role emphasizes accuracy, strong communication, and the ability to balance cash receipts daily.
SUMMARY Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, this position provides initial and frequent contact with the public by phone and in person. Considerable tact and persuasion are required in dealing with customers who may be or become distraught, difficult, probing, or irate. The main responsibilities of the Customer Service Representative are data entry of customer payments, providing information of an interpretive or procedural nature, handling the initial contact with customers, and providing assistance to existing customers regarding billing questions.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Qualifications
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business practice. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Department Heads, clients, customers, and the general public.
Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures for payments and balancing cash drawers.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
