Job summary

Heartland Co-Op in Gilman, IA is seeking a Full-Time Customer Service Associate who will handle sales transactions, assist customers, and support the location manager with daily duties.

You will bill products, accept payments, manage inventory records, respond to inquiries via email, phone, and in person, and help maintain accurate grain, petroleum, feed, and agronomy records. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos; communicate effectively.
  • Math Ability: Ability to perform basic arithmetic for pricing and transactions.
  • Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense in following written or oral instructions; solve basic problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service in a timely manner via email, face-to-face, telephone and live chat.
  • Bill products, receive payments, run scale, and track inventory.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns, complaints and issues.
  • Assist manager with maintaining grain, petroleum, feed and agronomy records.
  • Accept and record prepayment and bookings for products.
  • Price and process payment for commodities delivered by customers.
  • Remove cash, reconcile cash in register, and prepare deposits.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of products and services.
  • Exhibits self-motivation and ability to multitask and pay attention to details.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Summary

Receives and bills merchandise, accepts payment, waits on customer and assists location manager by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides customer service in a timely manner via several means which include email, face to face interaction, telephone and live chat.
  • Bill products, receive payments, run scale, and track inventory.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns, complaints and issues.
  • Assist location manager with maintaining grain, petroleum, feed and/or agronomy records.
  • Accept and record prepayment and bookings for products.
  • Price and process payment for commodities delivered by customers.
  • Remove cash and reconcile amount of cash in register at end of day and prepare deposit.
  • Develops and maintains vast knowledge of the products and services being offered.
  • Exhibits self‑motivation and the ability to multitask and pay close attention to small details.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of grain and inventory software.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times; may be required to maintain a valid CDL and commercial insurability by location manager.
  • May be required to maintain a current weighing license and grain grading certificate.
