PURPOSE: Ensures that all customers receive fast, friendly, accurate checkout service by passionately implementing the spirit of customer first, second to none. Manages and schedules duties of Front End Clerks, Courtesy Clerks, Service Operations Assistants, and Service Supervisors. Oversees the completion of daily cash, balancing, reconciliation, and payroll reports, while supporting store sales and overall operating plans.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Champions Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals. Handles customer relations positively, including effective resolution of complaints. Promotes Albertson's philosophy of personalized service.
- Provides fast, friendly, courteous customer service, handles customer relations, performs checking duties, and supervises cash registers when necessary. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques. Serves as overflow cashier if needed.
- Directs and supervises front end activities such as monitoring customer traffic, coordinating front end and service programs, ensuring cleanliness, safety, appearance, and monitoring inventories and supplies.
- Handles cash flow and controls including transactions, check approvals, refunds, and monitoring cash handling procedures. Manages system emergencies and pricing errors.
- Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training front end staff. Monitors compliance and makes recommendations for employment changes and discipline.
- Responsible for cost and quality control, maintaining awareness of customer and employee satisfaction.
- Enforces dress and grooming standards.
- Controls shrink and prevents the sale of out-of-code products.
- Performs all duties safely, accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Frequently lift and maneuver objects up to 55 lbs.
- Stand or walk for long periods, move quickly.
- Operate and troubleshoot PCs and checkstand equipment.

- Supervisory skills, ability to analyze facts for disciplinary and hiring decisions.
- Understanding of company practices, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain mental alertness for safe and accurate work.
- Knowledge of product variety, safety, sanitation, and department policies.

- Basic mathematics, weights, and measures knowledge.
Work Environment
The working environment is temperature-controlled store conditions with occasional outdoor exposure.
