Job summary

Earth Fare is seeking a Customer Service Lead (Bookkeeper) to greet customers, process transactions, balance cash drawers, and support store operations with accuracy and efficiency.

The role also involves maintaining product knowledge, applying promotions, and assisting with bagging while promoting sustainability and friendly service throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Earth Fare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.
• Process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately at the POS.
• Handle various forms of payment and balance cash drawers at shift end.
• Apply promotions and discounts and inform customers of ongoing offers.
• Assist with bagging and packing and promote sustainability.
• Report discrepancies and security issues to the Front End Team Leader.

Our Team Members guide our customers to select not only healthy food they can trust, but products for wellbeing and the household that are held to the same high standards as all of the food on our shelves.Customer Service Lead (Bookkeeper)Contributions:Customer Service:Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.Transaction Processing:Efficiently operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately.Handle various forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments.Promotions and Discounts:Apply promotional codes and discounts accurately, and inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers.Bagging and Packing:Ensure items are bagged properly to prevent damage, using environmentally friendly practices in line with Earth Fare’s commitment to sustainability.Cash Handling:Maintain accurate cash drawers, manage cash flow, and ensure all transactions are balanced at the end of each shift.Product Knowledge:Stay informed about the natural and organic products sold in the store to assist customers effectively.Bookkeeping:Responsible for reconciliation and recording of cash register drawers and daily balancing of the Cash Office.Communication of cash or paperwork discrepancies, security issues, or customer service opportunities to the Front End Team Leader.Prepares daily bank deposits and change orders and prepares all cash office paperwork.Training:Coaches and trains cashiers on the standard operating procedures for the department.Required Knowledge and Experience:Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.Earth Fare experience preferred.Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands:Lifting: Up to 10 pounds occasionally (e.g., small grocery items, cash register supplies)Reaching: Frequent reaching at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder level (e.g., grabbing items from behind the counter)Standing: Prolonged periods (e.g., standing at the cash register for a shift)Pulling/Pushing: Minimal; occasional pushing of small carts or bins with light itemsWhy Work for Earth Fare?Great Benefits:Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance for full-time employees401k and Retirement PlanningPaid Time Off20% Store Discount and discounted hot bar and salad barFlexible SchedulingSupportive Working Environment:Our Team Members and Leadership work together to co-create a working environment where each person’s unique traits and talents are valued.
