Earth Fare Boone in Boone, NC is seeking an Experienced Part-Time Customer Service Lead (Bookkeeper) to support daily store operations and help customers with checkout needs. You will operate the POS system, handle various payment methods, apply discounts, manage cash drawers, and reconcile daily cash office paperwork while staying informed about natural and organic products to assist shoppers effectively.

Qualifications

• Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Earth Fare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.
• Operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges.
• Handle various forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments.
• Apply promotional codes and discounts accurately, and inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers.
• Bag items properly to prevent damage, following sustainability practices.
• Maintain accurate cash drawers and balance cash office daily.
• Stay informed about natural and organic products to assist customers effectively.
• Reconcile and record cash drawer transactions and daily balancing of the Cash Office.
• Coach and train cashiers on standard operating procedures for the department.

Customer Service Lead (Bookkeeper)

Contributions

Customer Service

• Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.

Transaction Processing

• Efficiently operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately.
• Handle various forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments.

Promotions and Discounts

• Apply promotional codes and discounts accurately, and inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers.

Bagging and Packing

• Ensure items are bagged properly to prevent damage, using environmentally friendly practices in line with EarthFare’s commitment to sustainability.

Cash Handling

• Maintain accurate cash drawers, manage cash flow, and ensure all transactions are balanced at the end of each shift.

Product Knowledge

• Stay informed about the natural and organic products sold in the store to assist customers effectively.

Bookkeeping

• Responsible for reconciliation and recording of cash register drawers and daily balancing of the Cash Office.
• Communication of cash or paperwork discrepancies, security issues, or customer service opportunities to the Front End Team Leader.
• Prepares daily bank deposits and change orders and prepares all cash office paperwork.

Training

• Coaches and trains cashiers on the standard operating procedures for the department.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Earth Fare experience preferred.

Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands

• Lifting: Up to 10 pounds occasionally (e.g., small grocery items, cash register supplies)
• Reaching: Frequent reaching at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder level (e.g., grabbing items from behind the counter)
• Standing: Prolonged periods (e.g., standing at the cash register for a shift)
• Pulling/Pushing: Minimal; occasional pushing of small carts or bins with light items
