Qualifications

• Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Earth Fare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.
• Efficiently operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately.
• Handle various forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments.
• Apply promotional codes and discounts accurately, and inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers.
• Ensure items are bagged properly to prevent damage, using environmentally friendly practices.
• Maintain accurate cash drawers, manage cash flow, and ensure all transactions are balanced at the end of each shift.
• Stay informed about the natural and organic products sold to assist customers effectively.
• Responsible for reconciliation and recording of cash register drawers and daily balancing of the Cash Office.
• Communicate discrepancies, security issues, or customer service opportunities to the Front End Team Leader.
• Prepare daily bank deposits and change orders and all cash office paperwork.
• Coaches and trains cashiers on standard operating procedures for the department.

Customer Service Lead (Bookkeeper)

Contributions:

- Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer questions about products and store policies.

- Transaction Processing:

Efficiently operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately.

- Handle various forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments.

- Promotions and Discounts:

Apply promotional codes and discounts accurately, and inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers.

- Bagging and Packing:

Ensure items are bagged properly to prevent damage, using environmentally friendly practices in line with Earth Fares commitment to sustainability.

- Cash Handling:

Maintain accurate cash drawers, manage cash flow, and ensure all transactions are balanced at the end of each shift.

- Product Knowledge:

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands:

- Lifting: Up to 10 pounds occasionally (e.g., small grocery items, cash register supplies)

- Reaching: Frequent reaching at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder level (e.g., grabbing items from behind the counter)

- Standing: Prolonged periods (e.g., standing at the cash register for a shift)

- Pulling/Pushing: Minimal; occasional pushing of small carts or bins with light items
