Job summary

CSL in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is seeking a compassionate technician to prepare autopheresis equipment and donors for pheresis procedures. You will monitor the process, respond to alarms, disconnect the donor when complete, and document events using a PDA.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three months of work experience in a medical or health provider setting, with basic math skills and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Will perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions during or after pheresis and notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents during the pheresis process using a PDA, including machine alerts and donor events.
• Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the donor in the system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate donor data entry in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs at the center when applicable.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow HSE and OSHA policies; promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required at discretion.

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
• Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Use PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintain clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
• Perform job-related duties as assigned.
