Job summary

The CSL center in Springfield, MO seeks a donor pheresis technician who prepares the autopheresis machine and the donor area for each procedure. You will monitor the donor and the process, respond to alarms, and disconnect the donor when the session ends.

You will record incidents, link equipment to donors in the information system, and maintain safety, cleanliness and supply levels in line with SOPs and OSHA policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) months' work experience in medical or health provider environment.
• Will perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare autopheresis machine for pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to any donor reaction during or after pheresis and notify staff as needed.
• Use PDA to record incidents during the pheresis process (machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, donor adverse events).
• Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the donor in the system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
• Understand policies for hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies are available; follow HSE and OSHA policies; promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization’s discretion.

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
• Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Use PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintain clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience
