Overview
The Cashier provides excellent customer service by efficiently and accurately processing customer transactions at the checkout lane. This individual creates a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, treating each customer and associate like family.
Pay for this position starts at $15.00 - $20.60 / hour.
Minimum Qualifications

- Successful completion of e-learnings and department training programs.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

- Promote the company image as a service-oriented operation, greeting, assisting, and thanking customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
- Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with management and fellow associates to build a strong customer service team.
- Record all items at correct prices in their correct departments quickly and efficiently, utilizing all techniques specified in training.
- Verify identification for beer and wine purchases (where applicable).
- Follow company cash handling procedures and maintain acceptable over/short records.
- Participate in bagging customers’ orders properly, and check the register for products before the customer leaves to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Notify the customer service manager or assistant of any problems, inquiries, or complaints, including incorrect prices, poorly marked merchandise, errors with UPC codes, change and coin needs, security concerns, shrink issues, or overstock problems.
- Actively participate in controlling shrink, including checking carriages, accurate ringing, shoplifting awareness, associate theft, and perishable overstock control.
- Keep sales and work areas, equipment, and supplies clean, orderly, and safe; report hazards to management.
- Ensure standards of cleanliness, safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Secondary functions include scheduling as Service Clerks, Self-Checkout Assistants, or Head Cashiers, returning shopping carts and baskets, and assisting in training new associates.
