Job summary

Vitalant in Pittsburgh is seeking an entry-level phlebotomist on our Blood Collections Team. You will travel to regional blood drives, collect blood and blood products, and provide a safe, comfortable donor experience.

Starting Sep 14, 2026, shifts include Sundays through Saturdays, five days a week with hours 6am–8pm and occasional weekend work. No prior blood collection experience needed; full training provided.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license and driving record.
  • Must have personal reliable transportation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible shifts, varied schedules, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Create an exceptional donor experience by welcoming, educating, and caring for donors throughout the donation process.
  • Perform blood collections while ensuring donor safety, comfort, and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive company vehicles of all sizes, set up and operate equipment at mobile blood drive locations.
  • Contribute to a mission-focused team committed to ensuring blood is available whenever and wherever patients need it.

Job Description:

Pay: $19.39 - $21.02 per hour

Salary is commensurate with a candidate’s direct Phlebotomy experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location.

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Schedule: Sunday through Saturday, Five days a week, variable hours between the hours of 6am-8pm based on business needs, Every other weekend required.

Travel: You will assist Vitalant’s donor care team in setting up blood drives at locations withing a 200-mile range while creating comfortable, convenient, and consistent blood donation experiences for our donors.Every day you will helpsave lives and have a vital impact on your community.
