Job summary

Hawkins, Inc. is seeking a Customer & Regulatory Specialist (Food ingredients) to manage customer quality requests and provide accurate regulatory information in a timely manner. The role requires advanced knowledge of FDA food regulations and 21 CFR Part 117 to support regulatory strategies, with a strong emphasis on quality systems.

The position is based at Hawkins' corporate headquarters in Roseville, MN as a hybrid opportunity, combining on-site collaboration with flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs or related field.
• Minimum five years experience in a regulated environment (FDA, USDA, etc).
• Minimum two years experience in a customer-facing role.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, GFSI principles, and familiarity with Titles 7, 9, and 21 CFR.
• Strong communication across disciplines and levels.
• Experience with change control, document control, product and process lifecycle development, and training.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers with requested documentation through internal systems and customer portals.
• Maintain the Hawkins TraceGains Gather site with updated information for customers.
• Coordinate requests from Quality mailbox; ensure timely processing.
• Track customer requests and follow up with internal stakeholders.
• Maintain corporate statements, including regular review and creation of new statements.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to prepare statements that meet customer or regulatory needs.
• Manage Kosher and Halal Programs to maintain Certifications for Hawkins facilities.
• Maintain expertise in regulatory requirements and emerging compliance risks.
• Provide regulatory guidance for new products, license renewals and registrations.
• Identify areas of opportunity and assist with improving the quality management system.
• Stay current with changing regulatory requirements and lead necessary updates to policies, procedures, systems, and practices.
• Perform other miscellaneous related duties.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Customer & Regulatory Specialist (Food ingredients) is responsible for managing customer quality requests and ensuring that complete, accurate information is provided in a timely manner. This role requires advanced, specialized knowledge of U.S. FDA food regulations, FDA guidance documents, 21 CFR Part 117, and other applicable standards to support the execution of regulatory strategies. Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of Quality Systems are essential.

This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Roseville, MN as a hybrid opportunity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide customers with requested documentation through internal systems and customer portals.
• Maintain the Hawkins TraceGains Gather site to provide updated information to customers.
• Coordinate requests from Quality mailbox. Ensure requests are processed in a timely manner.

• Stay current with changing regulatory requirements and lead necessary updates to policies, procedures, systems, and practices across the organization to maintain compliance.
• Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs or related field.
• Minimum five years experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, USDA, etc.)
• Minimum two years experience working in a customer-facing role.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, GFSI principles, and familiarity with Titles 7, 9, and 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
• Ability to communicate well with all disciplines and levels at facilities and corporate.
• Experience with change control, document control, product and process lifecycle development, and training
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications - Outlook, Word, Excel
• Problem solving, trouble shooting, time management and organization skills.
