Job summary

Panasonic Energy invites qualified students to join as a Customer Quality Engineer Intern at our Gigafactory in Kansas. The 12-week summer program offers hands-on training across manufacturing quality, data analysis, and documentation within a dynamic engineering team.

Applicants must be full-time students in engineering with a GPA of 3.2+ and at least two years completed. Onsite work with PPE requirements applies, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar.
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support Customer Quality teams and collaborate with Tesla Quality team.
  • Analyze inputs/outputs using statistics, Python, and Minitab; apply SPC/SQC concepts and MSA.
  • Update and maintain quality documentation related to customer processes.
  • Design offline quality-related parts to improve inspection efficiency and safety.
  • Develop processes to support ISO 9001:2015-compliant cell testing.
  • Utilize lab equipment to gather data supporting project objectives.

What You’ll Do

Panasonic Energy is looking for interns to join our creative team of engineers. Our engineers are hard-working, goal-oriented, and creative, and they are looking for interns to train. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn all facets of manufacturing and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge. Also, this internship program is highly regarded in our field, so successful participation will be a great addition to your resume.

Essential Duties:

  • Support Panasonic Energy’s Customer Quality team working with Tesla Quality team.
  • Analyze and evaluate process inputs/outputs by utilizing statistics, programming languages (Python), visualization software (Minitab), SPC/SQC concepts (Western Electric Rules), MSA (Gage R&R), and validation techniques (cell disassembly)
  • Updating and maintaining quality documentation related to customer quality processes.
  • Design and develop offline quality related parts to improve inspection efficiency as well as safety
  • Design and implement processes to support cell testing to an ISO9001, 2015 compliance level
  • Utilizing lab equipment to gather data to support project objectives
  • Laboratory equipment: Battery cyclers, Environmental chambers, ARC Chamber, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Internship Details
  • The program will be a fulltime paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy at the Gigafactory.
  • The program will be 12 weeks in length, and is planned to occur between Monday, May 17 and Friday, August 6, 2027. This date range is subject to change.
  • Must be able to attend the entirety of the internship.
Program Requirements
  • The program will be a full time paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy onsite at the Gigafactory
  • Must attend entirety of internship from the indicated start and end date noted above
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years at an accredited university
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis at the time the internship begins and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, O-1, TN, L-1, or other employment-based visas) to participate in the program or for a fulltime role after graduation. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Education:

  • Basic/Required: Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar degree programs.

  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

  • Hands‑on experience through project teams or previous jobs
  • A desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles
