Job summary

BorgWarner Arden campus seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to ensure product quality for production operations in a metalworking environment. You will lead quality improvements, interpret customer quality requirements, and drive corrective actions and problem-solving initiatives on critical processes.

The role emphasizes New Product Qualification, APQP participation, and building strong internal/external customer relationships through robust quality systems.

Qualifications

  • Requires a four-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and a minimum of 8 years Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Assurance experience in a metalworking environment.
  • Knowledge of QS-9000 automotive quality standards.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949.
  • Experience with supplier development is a plus.
  • Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word and graphical analysis in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Minitab for statistical analysis.
  • ASQ Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees integrity of product quality for assigned area through participation as integral part of manufacturing team.
  • Identifies and interprets the customer’s quality requirements to assure compliance.
  • Drives and champions quality improvement efforts.
  • Provides expert analysis, guidance, and support to Production in Process Improvement activities, including effective use of problem-solving tools and statistical analysis.
  • Responsible for New Product Qualification and verification of changes to current product.
  • Supports external customers in New Product Introduction via APQP.
  • Ensures internal customer needs for Quality Systems are met in a timely and functional manner.
  • Measures performance by Customer Satisfaction, Parts Per Million, Incidences, Corrective Action Timing and Effectiveness, etc.

Ensures that internal customer needs for Quality Systems are met in a timely and functional manner.Results for this position will be measured by improvements to Customer Satisfaction: Parts Per Million, Number of Incidences, Corrective Action Timing and Effectiveness, and Building Customer Relationships. Additional internal measurements include Scrap Rate, Audit Compliance, and Response Time to Manufacturing Issues.Optimizes Process Capability on significant characteristics through effective application of statistical analysis techniques and training of manufacturing employees and technicians in Problem-Solving.Applies knowledge of Inspection Equipment and Techniques to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making.Utilizes analytical skill sets to implement root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective action.Establishes himself or herself as an expert on quality control and quality improvement.Takes responsibility for driving quality results.
