Job summary

ABB in Puerto Rico seeks a Quality & CI Manager to define, deploy and support a Quality Culture within the local unit, assuring and controlling quality with systems, tools and teams to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations.

You will maintain the local QMS in line with ABB Group guidance, drive root-cause analysis, and lead corrective actions to solve customer quality issues, ensuring ISO 9001:2015 compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10+ years experience in Incoterms, customer experience, project execution, and supply chain.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across levels within the organization and with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Voice of the Customer within local teams and manage customer quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
  • Independently execute work using established solutions and coach junior colleagues as needed.
  • Ensure all processes are ISO 9001:2015 compliant for established and approved processes.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation including quality control plans, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Lead quality improvement projects to meet business quality commitments and drive permanent fixes.

In this role, you will define, Deploy and support a Quality Culture within local ABB, by assuring and controlling Quality with systems, tools and teams to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. Supports and maintains the Quality Management System of the local unit. All aspects managed in line with ABB Group/Division/BU guidance

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Voice of the Customer: Represents the Voice of the Customer within local teams. Manages the customer quality issues, perform root cause analysis and lead the implementation of the corrective actions to solve the customer quality issues. Challenges the teams with customer experience feedback and input to decisions. Enable and coaches employees to evaluate risks, problems and solutions from a customer/stakeholder point of view.
  • Challenges: The ideal candidate is an Individual contributor using prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions. Building knowledge of related disciplines in the organization. May work under direct supervision or independently. May instruct or coach junior colleagues.
  • Ensure that all processes are always in full ISO 9001:2015 compliance for established and approved processes.
  • Create/implement & maintain company quality documentation: quality control plans, quality procedures & work instructions.
  • Ensure timely resolution on internal and supplier related issues impacting the operation and/ or customers.
  • Identify and lead quality improvement projects to achieve business quality commitments.
  • Drives root cause on all QMS compliance misses & develop/implement permanent fixes.
Job Skills
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10+ years relevant work experience in the following: Incoterms knowledge, customer experience success, project execution, and supply chain. Will considered associate’s degree in Eng or related field with 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Preferred: Green belt (lean six sigma) certification
  • Advanced level ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) information to varying levels within the organization and customers.
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office products.
  • Basic knowledge of 2 of the following principles and should be able to elaborate the concepts: lean manufacturing, 5 S, 8D reports, PPAP
  • Collaborates well with others.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and ownership; until the job is complete!
