Customer Operations Specialist - Evening Hours

The current senior care payments experience is broken, increasing costs and inefficiencies for senior living operators, while making it confusing, cumbersome, and stressful for families. Sunbound aims to solve this by creating a modern platform to handle this process end-to-end, saving time, money, and effort for operators and families.

Mission: Inspired by firsthand experiences with their own families, our founders are committed to helping seniors—an often overlooked group. Our mission is to make managing money for senior living easy, so our customers can focus on providing quality housing and care.

Team: We are a dedicated, close-knit group expanding in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC, and Washington, DC.

Traction: Since launching in mid-2023, we serve thousands of families across the United States.

Growth: We are growing 30% month-over-month. The senior living market exceeds $230 billion and is expected to grow rapidly as the “baby boomer” generation ages.

Funding: We have secured three funding rounds from top-tier investors like Fika Ventures, Bling Capital, Liquid2 Ventures, and others, who have collectively backed over 20 unicorns including Square, Lyft, and Rippling.

About the role

We’re seeking a Customer Operations Specialist to join our growing Operations team in Washington, DC. You will ensure smooth monthly payment processing and support our customers. This early-stage role offers opportunities to shape the team’s future. If you enjoy data analysis, problem-solving, and customer interaction, this could be an ideal position for you.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure smooth payment cycles.
  • Manage data quality and support payment collection to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor payment health.
  • Track reports for payment coverage and issues, intervening to resolve discrepancies.
  • Handle failed payments.
  • Review and resolve root causes of failed payments.
  • Manage customer payment plans.
  • Coordinate and communicate with customers to ensure timely collections.
  • Handle customer inquiries via phone and email, ensuring issues are fully resolved to prevent recurrence.
  • Shape the future of operations.
  • Contribute to growing and developing our operations team over time.
What we expect from you
  • BA/BS degree and 2+ years of work experience (or 4+ years without a degree).
  • Startup experience in operations or customer support.
  • Proficiency in Excel for managing data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with financial information.
  • Experience in customer service and direct customer interaction.
  • Interest or experience in A/R management, billing, payments, or collections.
  • In your application, tell us why you're interested in senior living.
  • Familiarity with Zendesk and Aircall is a plus.
  • Working hours: 12pm - 8pm EST, Monday to Friday.
  • SQL skills or willingness to learn.
