Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional customer-focused security and life safety for people and property. Responsibilities include maintaining a professional demeanor, visible presence, monitoring for suspicious activity, greeting guests, and reporting incidents.

Requirements include a valid GSA credential or eligibility, required security licenses, a high school diploma or GED, reliable communication methods, and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid GSA credential or be eligible to obtain one.
• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses.
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent.
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat and professional appearance.
• Write routine correspondence, to include log entries and incident reporting.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, customer service experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility assigned.
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Familiarize with incoming and outgoing traffic and know the customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
• Greet people in a professional manner at all times.
• Answer phones professionally.
• Permit authorized entrances and monitor entrances/exits.
• Enforce facility policies within the role limits.
• Perform patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
• Follow emergency action planning and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and systems.
• Observe departing personnel to protect company property.
