Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a cashier for the hospital cafeteria to handle cash transactions and provide prompt, courteous service. You will balance the cash drawer, operate the POS system, and record meal information for volunteers and staff.

Strong communication and math skills are required to ensure accurate transactions throughout busy shifts. Experience with cash registers and a customer-service mindset is desirable, with adherence to safety, OSHA, and internal conduct

Qualifications

• Prior cash handling and cash register experience is desired.
• Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively.
• Ability to apply elementary math functions.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Work Experience Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains friendly, efficient Spirit of Service attitude towards customers and co-workers during sales transactions.
• Operates cash register by scanning items and displaying total, tax, and rebates.
• Reconciles cash drawer at end of shift and ensures sales are properly recorded.
• Records meal information for volunteers, students, employees and physicians and submits it to the designated person.
