Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Waterbury, CT. You will support the Store Manager in supervising staff, merchandising, and daily store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will handle stocking, cashier duties, deposits, and loss prevention while maintaining a clean, organized store and a strong customer-first focus. This role requires reliability and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring policy adherence.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Assist with financial integrity through cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds, and deposits.
• Assist with store management in Store Manager's absence.
