Job summary

ShopRite Sparta, NJ is seeking a cashier to deliver a great customer experience at the front end. You will provide accurate, friendly, and efficient checkout service, scan and bag products, collect payments, and give correct change.

You will also promote current promotions and maintain a clean, safe work area on the sales floor. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in variable temperatures while interacting with customers in a helpful manner.

Qualifications

• Read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
• Perform basic math.
• Stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Work with fresh, dried and/or processed products without negative allergic consequences.
• Tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine duties.
• Work in varying temperatures.
• Interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Adhere to all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils and equipment.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Follow cash handling procedures and operate the cash register.
• Accurately scan products and identify correct department.
• Process payments (cash, card, checks, EBT, coupons) per guidelines.
• Bag customer orders safely and efficiently.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock items per policy.
• Stand at register for the duration of the shift and work overtime as needed.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
