Job summary

You will assist the department manager in achieving sales goals, answer questions, stock merchandise, and promote store specials to customers. You will also reinforce safety procedures, handle busy periods, and demonstrate honesty and integrity in all customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products within the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products.
• Inform customers of Drug GM specials.
• Recommend Drug GM items to customers to ensure they get what they want and need.
• Review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risk, theft or fraud.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
