Job summary

Lightning AI, the company behind PyTorch Lightning, is hiring a Platform Engineer to partner with customers and build production AI systems on the Lightning platform. You will work with customer engineering teams to solve complex challenges in inference infrastructure, distributed systems, APIs, and AI workflows.

You’ll translate requirements into production-ready software, create reusable platform capabilities, and help shape the evolution of the Lightning Platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience building production full-stack applications with React, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Experience working directly with customers in highly technical environments.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and lifecycle of model development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Experience deploying production AI/ML systems in cloud or distributed environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end AI systems and workflows on Lightning’s platform.
• Translate objectives into technical specifications, proof-of-concepts, and scalable production implementations.
• Own customer engagements end-to-end from discovery through deployment and scaling.
• Develop production-grade software systems and services using modern languages, with Python preferred.
• Build reliable, observable systems with attention to latency, throughput, and cost in production.
• Debug and optimize AI systems across inference infrastructure and APIs.
• Work closely with customer teams throughout the full lifecycle of AI deployments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve platform capabilities and roadmap priorities.
• Navigate ambiguity with sound technical judgment and deliver high-quality outcomes.
