Job summary

OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team seeks customer-focused software engineers to build custom software leveraging OpenAI’s APIs for real customer problems. You will design scalable solutions with customers and other engineers to accelerate delivery and impact.

Based in Seattle with a hybrid model (3 days in the office), the role requires collaboration across Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Product. Relocation assistance is offered and travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional full stack engineering experience
• Customer-facing experience is highly desirable
• Former founder or early engineer at a startup is a plus
• Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL

Responsibilities

• Embed deeply with strategic customers to understand business challenges and technical requirements.
• Design, architect, and develop full-stack solutions with an experiment-driven, iterative approach.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work and project plans for proofs-of-concept and production deployments.
• Work hands-on with customers' technical teams as a trusted advisor and technical expert.
• Collaborate with Product, Research and Applied teams to ensure smooth customer experiences and actionable feedback.
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases, codifying best practices from customer engagements.
