Job summary

You will work with the POS system and manage various tender types while upholding company policies and safety standards. Strong communication and math skills are essential in a fast-paced, friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) required.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and prevent shortages/overages.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by notifying management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report items in need of repair.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions.
• Comply with local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally and calmly.
• Uphold honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
