Job summary

Housing Works in New York, NY seeks a Customer Engagement Associate to deliver first-rate donor and customer service while supporting daily store operations and sales goals. You will work with management to train staff and volunteers, ensure register operations and merchandising standards, and craft engaging displays that showcase upcoming events and premium products.

Qualifications

• Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Experience/knowledge of thrift store environment preferred.
• Excellent communications skills (verbal & written), interpersonal and team oriented.
• Self-starting, self-motivating mindset.
• Strong interest in Housing Works mission to end homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and web-based email.
• Schedule flexibility; weekends/holidays required.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend for long periods; lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Open/close the store in absence of Store Manager.
• Use Housing Works tools to ensure operations and standards.
• Ensure compliance with Housing Works policies and procedures.
• Review store environment to improve operations and merchandising.
• Direct daily focus with staff/volunteer deployment toward sales goals.
• Train and develop skills of employees and volunteers to standards.
• Ensure staff/train on register operations, visual merchandising, and store maintenance.
• Care for donations and merchandise; maintain interior fixtures.
• Merchandise retail space with displays and floor plans highlighting products.
