Job summary

Fred Meyer is seeking a friendly cashier/checker to greet and assist customers at the register. You will process transactions quickly and accurately while handling various payment methods and loyalty offers.

Stay updated on ads and promotions, follow safety and cash-handling procedures, and maintain a welcoming store environment through helpful product questions. Responsibilities include enforcing policies, assisting with stamps, gift cards, and coupons, and ensuring compliance with local laws

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Operate POS system and handle various tender types (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers).
• Adhere to company cash handling, loss prevention, and restricted item policies (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Provide welcoming service and assist customers with product questions.
