Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer (CE) to partner with technical Sales teams and differentiate Google Cloud for public sector customers in the US. You will act as the primary technical partner, leading technical discussions, performing proofs of concepts, and architecting cross-pillar cloud solutions that address business issues.

You will drive technical wins, shape delivery plans, and engage with executive leadership to present practical cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of cloud native architecture experience in customer-facing or support roles.
• Experience engaging with technical stakeholders or executive leaders.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure engineering, on-premise infrastructure, virtualization, or containerization.
• Travel up to 30% of the time as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, supporting targeted sales motions.
• Combine sales, programming, and solutions architecture to prove value across the Google Cloud portfolio.
• Architect cross-pillar solutions, drive technical wins, and define delivery plans.
• Support pricing activities and transition final delivery plans to implementation teams.
• Maintain progress awareness and assist cross-functional teams during ramp and delivery phases.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure engineering, on-premise infrastructure engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with State Local Public Sector clients including state, county, and local municipal agencies.


• Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.


• Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and pen testing.


• Experience with networking concepts such as software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers and firewalls.


• Experience creating demos and solution creation using generative AI tools and services.


• Ability to learn, understand, and work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Google Cloud/IT technology space.

About the job

As a Customer Engineer (CE), you will partner with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers in Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. You will serve as the customer’s primary technical partner and trusted advisor, engaging in technical-led conversations to understand their business issues. You will troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks, engage in proofs of concepts and demos, and use your expertise to architect cross-pillar cloud solutions that solve these business issues. You will drive the technical win and define the delivery and consumption plans. You will use your presentation skills to engage with technical and business leaders, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

You will focus on identifying, pursuing, and winning new business workloads and driving pen testing within existing ones. You will have a breadth of technical expertise, spanning infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics and more. You will blend sales expertise, market knowledge and direct technical engagement to prove the value of the Google Cloud portfolio. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $152000 - $221000 (USD) + 42.86% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, participating in planning and supporting targeted sales motions.


• Combine sales, programming, and solutions architecture expertise to prove the value of Google Cloud Platform across the portfolio through complex demos, pilots and in-depth workshops.


• Architect cross-pillar solutions, drive technical wins, and define initial delivery plans for customers, continue to lead the technical engagement in the solution phase.


• Facilitate the post-sales transition by supporting pricing activities and transitioning the final delivery plan to implementation teams.


• Maintain awareness of progress against the delivery plan, providing support to cross-functional teams during ramp, delivery, migration or implementation phases.
