Job summary

Google Public Sector seeks a Customer Engineer to collaborate with Sales leaders and explain Google Cloud's technical solutions to government and education customers. You will translate customer needs into practical cloud architectures.

You will present, demo, and prototype integrations, engage executives, and help accelerate adoption of Google Cloud across a range of AI, infrastructure, data analytics projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with designing cloud-native enterprise-grade technical architecture in customer-facing or support roles.
• Experience designing, managing, and operating high performance computing systems, including MPI workloads, low latency networking, and parallel file systems.
• Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Responsibilities

• Identify and qualify business opportunities within accounts and resolve technical blockers.
• Share Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship, including briefings, proofs-of-concept, and bid responses.
• Demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
• Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and infrastructure for Google Cloud solutions.
• Lead prospecting and build trusted advisor relationships for long-term technology decisions.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with Federal scientific and research-focused agencies such as NOAA, NIST, and Department of Energy.
• Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
• Experience with Agentic AI use cases or deploying custom AI applications.
• Experience with networking concepts such as software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers and firewalls.
• Ability to learn quickly, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space.

You will use your expertise and presentation skills to engage with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will focus on a range of customer opportunities as an expert technologist spanning artificial intelligence, infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics and more. You will have a passion for growing account connections, with experience in building out greenfield territories.

• Work as part of an account team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
• Share in-depth Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption of Google Cloud.
• Work directly with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
• Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution on Google Cloud.
