Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer to partner with technical sales teams as a data analytics subject matter expert to differentiate Google Cloud for startup customers. You will help prospects and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop cloud solutions and architectures to solve business issues, and troubleshoot data lifecycle questions.

You will engage in proofs-of-concept and present practical solutions, while collaborating with product and engineering teams to stay on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as a sales engineer or technical consultant in a cloud environment or customer-facing role.
  • Experience presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Support local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities and address data lifecycle aspects.
  • Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions.
  • Manage technical projects including advocacy, bid responses, product briefings, PoCs, and coordinating resources.
  • Work with Google Cloud Platform products to demonstrate integrations in customer/partner environments and travel as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver product messaging to highlight Google Cloud value using whiteboards, slides, demos, and RFIs.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as a sales engineer or technical consultant in a cloud computing environment or in a customer-facing role (including working as a member of a professional services or systems engineering team).
  • Experience working with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in technical sales or professional consulting in the fields of cloud computing, data, information lifecycle management, and Big Data.
  • Experience with developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch or real-time event processing, and ETL workflows solutions (Informatica, Talend, Alooma, SAP, Data Services) which could include architecture design, implementing, tuning, schema design, and query optimization of scalable and distributed systems.
  • Experience in writing code in development languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, Scala, R, or Go.
  • Experience addressing DNS, TCP, firewalls, proxy servers, load balancing, VPN, and VPC, and with Linux.

You will use your expertise and presentation skills to engage with customers to understand business and technical requirements, and present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

US: $152000 - $221000 (USD) + 42.86% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:
  • Support local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities, and engage customers to address aspects of the data lifecycle.
  • Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements.
  • Take responsibility for managing technical projects, including such activities as technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
  • Work with Google Cloud Platform products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments, and travel as required for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
  • Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight the Google Cloud Platform value proposition, using techniques that include whiteboard and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, and Request for Information (RFI) response documents.
