Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Sales Engineer to empower customer engagements across the US, including Cambridge, MA, and other major campuses. You will collaborate with sales, product, and engineering teams to architect scalable solutions and present to executives.

You will lead technical discovery, proofs of concept, and client demonstrations, helping customers realize data‑driven transformations with Google Cloud, while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience as a sales engineer or technical consultant in cloud computing or customer-facing roles.
• Experience presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
• Experience in technical sales or professional consulting in cloud computing, data, information lifecycle management and Big Data.
• Experience developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch or real-time processing, and ETL workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities and engage customers to address data lifecycle aspects.
• Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions.
• Manage technical projects, including technology advocacy, bid responses, product/solution briefings, and proofs-of-concept.
• Work with Google Cloud Platform products to demonstrate integrations and travel for meetings and onsite delivery.
• Prepare and deliver product messaging to highlight the Google Cloud Platform value proposition via presentations, white papers, and RFIs.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience as a sales engineer or technical consultant in a cloud computing environment or in a customer-facing role (including working as a member of a professional services or systems engineering team).
• Experience working with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in technical sales or professional consulting in the fields of cloud computing, data, information lifecycle management, and Big Data.
• Experience with developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch or real-time event processing, and ETL workflows solutions (Informatica, Talend, Alooma, SAP, Data Services) which could include architecture design, implementing, tuning, schema design, and query optimization of scalable and distributed systems.
• Experience in writing code in development languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, Scala, R, or Go.
• Experience addressing DNS, TCP, firewalls, proxy servers, load balancing, VPN, and VPC, and with Linux.

• Support local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities, and engage customers to address aspects of the data lifecycle.
• Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements.
• Take responsibility for managing technical projects, including such activities as technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof‑of‑concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
• Work with Google Cloud Platform products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments, and travel as required for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
• Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight the Google Cloud Platform value proposition, using techniques that include whiteboard and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, and Request for Information (RFI) response documents.
