D, a retail store, seeks a reliable cashier to greet customers, process transactions, and maintain accurate cash drawers. You will operate cash registers or POS systems, issue receipts, handle returns, and assist with bagging and restocking as needed.

The role requires strong math skills, clear communication, and the ability to stand for long periods. High school diploma preferred; upholding confidentiality and customer data handling is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven work history providing customer service.
• Ability to calculate numbers, make correct entries, and use a computer system.
• Ability to communicate information, policies, and procedures clearly to customers.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store.
• Answer customers' questions and provide information on store merchandise.
• Establish or identify prices of goods and services and tabulate bills using cash registers or price scanners.
• Compute and record totals of transactions.
• Receive payment by cash, check, credit card, voucher, or debit.
• Validate check payments by requesting driver’s license information.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers.
• Bag or box merchandise for customers.
• Assist with carry-out service at transaction completion.
• Count money in cash drawers at start of shifts to ensure correct amounts and adequate change.
• Maintain clean checkout areas.
• Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
• Use paging system to request information or assistance.
• Resolve customer complaints with supervisor involvement as needed.
• Sort, count, and wrap currency and coins.
• Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices.
• Recommend accessory items or related merchandise when appropriate.
• Assist in investigations to resolve any register/transaction out-of-balance issues.
• Stock shelves and mark prices.
• Answer telephone.
• Other duties as assigned by store management.
