Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Mass Spectrometry Support Specialist to train customers, set up instruments, and lead technical initiatives.

You will collaborate with R&D and clinical teams, document procedures, travel up to 50%, and deliver trainings on newborn screening assays.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.
  • At least 5 years in a technical or research role with 2+ years using Mass Spec.
  • Minimum 3 years in technical support or field applications for Mass Specs.
  • Willingness to travel domestically at least 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Support and train customers on Diagnostics products.
  • Set up new mass spectrometers and perform performance qualifications at customer sites.
  • Train customers on Mass Spec assays for newborn screening.
  • Independently troubleshoot, resolve, and test technical issues for assigned products.
  • Engage Customer Service to assist with technical reviews of equipment orders.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members through documentation and communication.
  • Communicate product descriptions and customer-specific workflows to product management.
  • Produce and maintain customer training materials.
  • Lead creation of technical support standards and improvements.
  • Participate in special projects, including optimization and configuration of new instrumentation for individual assays.
  • Communicate project and unresolved issue status to the Team Leader.
  • Partner with R&D, clinical operations, and support teams on test validations and verifications.
  • Train new and current employees on procedures and policies such as SFDC.
  • Deliver deadlines, provide status reports, and manage tasks through completion.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline or engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical or research role with at least 2 years using Mass Spec.
  • A minimum of 3 years of technical support, field applications or customer facing role supporting Mass Specs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with shared goals and responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide clear and structured written documentation.
  • Ability to perform moderate and/or highly complex analytical processes without direct supervision.
  • Excellent group interaction skills and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities.
  • Excellent presentation skills in front of internal teams, customers, and large audience.
  • Ability and willingness for domestic travel at least 50% of the time.
  • 50% domestic travel required.
